Suntup’s next limited release is Christopher Moore’s ‘Lamb’

Suntup Editions just announced three new editions of Christopher Moore’s 2002 novel, Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal, each of which will include a new introduction by the author and eleven new illustrations by the acclaimed artist Bill Carman. The Classic Edition is available for preorder now, with Numbered and Lettered Editions going public this Saturday, November 15 at 9 a.m. Pacific Time (Suntup is in California). All copies across every tier will be signed by both Christopher Moore and Bill Carman, and are expected to ship in Fall 2026.

For fans of Christopher Moore, the new introduction supposedly offers readers fresh insight into the novel, which humorously chronicles the “lost years” of Jesus Christ from adolescence to adulthood, as documented by his fictional childhood companion, Levi bar Alphaeus (“Biff”).

Pricing details for ‘Lamb’ from Suntup Editions.

The Classic Edition

The Classic Edition is limited to 500 copies and is available for preorder now. The book is bound in Napura Timber paper, providing a unique textural finish, and features vibrant Rainbow endsheets, adding a visual flourish to the interior. The cover is detailed with foil blocking. Furthermore, it includes a dust jacket featuring wraparound art by Bill Carman. Finally, each book is housed in an embossed paper-covered slipcase for protection and display

The Numbered Edition

The Numbered Edition is to 250 copies and hand-bound using a 4-down link sewing technique based on traditional Greek Coptic binding. The exposed spine sewing and covers clad in Napura Madera Walnut wood grain papers is a stunning nod to the early bookbinding techniques of the ancient Mediterranean. It also features a mahogany wooden slipcase, which is velvet-lined for protection.

The Lettered Edition

The Lettered Edition is limited to only 26 copies. Hand-bound in calfskin, it features a central clasp and blind tooling that incorporates a triple-line roll and medieval decorative motifs. The binding style pays homage to the way sacred texts were preserved and revered in the Middle Ages. The edition is housed in a custom wooden enclosure featuring butt-joint construction, a hinged lid, and a rich stain that complements the earthy tones of the leather binding.

About Suntup Editions

Based in Irvine, California, Suntup Editions was founded in 2016 by Paul Suntup. Inspired by the late 19th-century Private Press movement pioneers like William Morris. Dissatisfied with mass-produced books, Suntup set out with the mission to publish meticulously crafted, limited-edition books that are art objects themselves.

The press quickly gained attention following its 2017 debut and has since established a reputation for collaborating with leading writers, artists, and artisans to create highly sought-after editions across genres — often utilizing letterpress printing and premium, archival materials — typically published in various states, each with its own unique design and character.
