Folio teases a limited edition of ‘The Last Unicorn’

For years, fans of The Folio Society have been begging for an edition of Peter S. Beagle’s landmark fantasy novel The Last Unicorn — and now it’s almost here via a $705 limited edition that drops November 11, 2025.

With a new preface by the author, a new introduction by Patrick Rothfuss (The Name of the Wind) and over 35 illustrations by Lily Seika-Jones, Folio’s limited edition will be “bound in rose-gold foiled leather and housed in a beautifully crafted clamshell box,” and signed by both the author and artist on a letterpress-printed limitation label. It will be limited to just 500 copies.

At 260 pages, the edition will also feature gold metallic endpapers, a gold ribbon marker, and foiled book edges in a rose gold foil. No images of the interior have been shared yet,

Originally published in 1968 by Viking, The Last Unicorn was adapted into a cult classic animated film in 1982. Last year, Suntup Editions released three fine press editions with illustrations by Tom Kidd that quickly sold out.

I imagine Folio’s edition will only be available for a few weeks at most.
