This week, The Folio Society revealed its Autumn 2025 collection of nine new books — and for my money it’s one of their best drops in years.
The headliner here is a massive, two-volume edition of 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, which shares a consistent design aesthetic with the four previous Folio/Murakami collabs — Kafka on the Shore, Norwegian Wood, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, and A Wild Sheep Chase — and more art from Daniel Liévano.
I’m personally thrilled for A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller Jr., a monumental work of science fiction set in a Catholic monastery in the American Southwest during a new Middle Ages after an apocalyptic event. The Folio edition features appropriately Medieval art by Elliot Lang and a new introduction by Michael Dirda, the Pulitzer-winning book critic.
I’m also excited for Pax by Tom Holland, which gets 14 hand-drawn maps and 24 color photos. It will look beautiful next to the Folio editions of Holland’s Rubicon, Dynasty, Persian Fire, and Dominion.
On the heels of The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Folio continues its Shirley Jackson series with The Lottery and Other Dark Tales. Look out for a new introduction by Ruth Franklin, author of the stellar biography Shirley Jackson: A Rather Haunted Life, and more gothic art from Angie Hoffmeister.
And just two years after its illustrated edition of The Buried Giant, Folio dips back into the Ishiguro well with Klara and the Sun, which features a “pixel-detailed” cloth binding and seven illustrations by Isabel Seliger.

H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald, with linocut illustrations by Chris Wormell.
Endless Night by Agatha Christie, the ninth Christie novel in Folio’s collection, with illustrations by Hokyoung Kim.
Octopussy and the Living Daylights by Ian Fleming, the 13th and final novel in Folio’s Bond collection, with illustrations by series artist Fay Dalton.
A Bear Called Paddington by Michael Bond, illustrated by Peggy Fortnum and introduced by Michael Morpurgo.
Alderbrink
